Trail Design and Construction
At TrailScapes, we design and construct all types of trails; including, but not limited to, International Standard Mountain Bike Parks, Competition and Recreational Mountain Bike trails, Recreational Walking and Horse-riding trails, BMX, Dirt jump and Pump tracks, and Shared Use trails.
Our trail designs incorporate world-class features, such as rock armouring to improve durability and longevity of your trail, technical trail features for more challenging courses and innovative drainage solutions. We also provide natural trail surfacing and re-surfacing services.
We also design, construct and install a complete range of structural elements, including shelters, bridges and boardwalks. Our trail structures not only enhance trail aesthetics, but also greatly improve user access. In addition, we can also install specially designed Phytophthora stations to help prevent the spread of plant-damaging pathogens.

TrailScapes has successfully completed a number of trail and pump track design and construction projects in Asia (China and Indonesia). Working with local labour and translators, we have coordinated construction logistics to obtain the right materials and equipment to achieve standards equivalent to those we deliver in Australia. We have also worked with locals to create international racing event venues and the competitions themselves.
User groups and clients have different values to those in Australia, and often standards are different or do not exist. In the absence of standards or proven work practices, we have adhered to industry best practice to ensure safe and durable solutions. In developing countries, trails tourism economies are developing, which has provided us with the opportunity to educate the locals.
Working abroad has presented a range of new challenges, which have enabled TrailScapes to develop innovative solutions. Our work in Asia has challenged us to work in different geological and climatic conditions not found in Australia. Where we have encountered extreme conditions, such as monsoon season and volcanic activity, it has been important to meticulously plan our construction window, as well as have some flexibility to accommodate unexpected events and delays. The mobilisation from our home base adds to the expense, so it is important to get the job done right the first time.
