TrailScapes is the fastest growing trail building company in Australia, and an industry leader in the planning, design, building and maintenance of sustainable trails Australia-wide and world-wide.
TrailScapes Pty Ltd is owned and operated by Garry Patterson, a founding member of Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) and Inside Line MTB Club, and a former National Mountain Bike Champion. Garry has been actively developing and constructing IMBA Standard Mountain Bike trails since 1992 and brings a wealth of knowledge in sustainable trail design to the TrailScapes team.
Following a national mountain bike racing career, the establishment of key racing venues and governing structures at the local and national levels, Garry saw the potential for trails to offer world class experiences to every day users. Consequently in 2007 TrailScapes was born.
Since 1992, Garry has been behind many of the industry’s innovations and some of the best quality trails in Australia and Asia. Garry is a passionate, driven person who strives to make any project, big or small something he can be proud of. He surrounds himself with like-minded people, trains and trusts his team to deliver outcomes that will meet and exceed client expectations.
We are passionate about the environment and have extensive knowledge of Australia’s trail networks, including formal and informal trail use, biodiversity management principles, conservation objectives, and relevant legislation, strategies and management plans. We are committed to operating efficiently and safely, and our team has proven experience operating in remote outback areas.
Our team has completed complex projects requiring lateral thinking such as the use of helicopters for the delivery of construction materials in difficult to access or environmentally sensitive areas.
Professional Endorsements
TrailScapes is the only company in the Southern Hemisphere endorsed by the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA). TrailScapes is qualified to provide classifications advice using the IMBA Technical Difficulty Rating System (TDRS).
TrailScapes is the only company in the Southern Hemisphere endorsed by the Professional Trail Builders Association (PTBA). TrailScapes is one of more than 100 member companies who have been professionally vetted and adhere to a strict code of conduct. Membership also provides TrailScapes with access to the latest industry trends and research into sustainable trail development.
TrailScapes was recently certified under the Master Builders Association of South Australia, which represents all sectors of the construction industry. Membership assists TrailScapes in meeting the complex requirements and expectations of the industry.
Our Specialist Machinery, Tools and Equipment
We use the latest in trail building equipment and construction techniques, and even manufacture our own trail tools right here in Australia. Visit our online shop to view and purchase our trail products.
TrailScapes has a range of specialist plant and equipment available for trail construction projects, and regularly hires additional equipment and services from local providers. Our construction crew works across the country with a suite of equipment and tools – all 100% transportable. We are able to mobilise to sites efficiently, with the use of our trucks, support vehicles and 20ft equipment storage shipping container / mobile office.
Our full range of plant and equipment includes four 1.7t excavators. The small size means they are perfectly suited to building trails that have minimal impact on the environment and leave very little mess to clean up. Our Vermeer mini skid steers are the narrowest and most maneuverable machines in their category.
